Behavioral Objective:- At the end of the lesson, the student should be able to (i) explain briefly the background of the French administration. (ii) explain the policy of assimilation.

Content:- France regarded and administered her overseas territories as an integral part of the French republic. This system was unlike the British system. There was a greater uniformity in the administration of the French overseas territories than in the British colonies.
French introduced two policies in her territories in French West Africa.

Content:- nationalism may be defined as a certain form of unity which grows out of historical experience. It is the sense of owners that emerges from social groups, trying to control their dressing, environment and to defend their interest against completing groups.
Proto nationalism (nationalism before the second world war) some of its features include Racial seqregation, Harsh treatment and Economic exploitations among others.

services.

Content:-
Colonial posture of the UN. The organization adopted a negative posture
towards colonialism and imperialism. The impact of the second world
war. The war exposed the night surrounding the supremacy of the
colonial masters (whites).
Independent of India is also another factor that propelled other nation to
struggle for independence.
